The Rapiers at the Greenlee County Fair
The 2010 Greenlee Fair has now come and gone. It was a first for the hog showing, all 5 pigs were on the last page of the sale, two were the very last two. The Rapier family let some other young people experience the thrill of winning. "But" the rest of the fair entries were very successful, Best of Fair, special merit and plenty of blue ribbons with some extra red and white thrown in.
To start off Jennie Lou put in 3 entries and took 3 blue ribbons with the quilt taking best of fair.

Kinsley took Best of Fair with her First grade self portrait.

Becky Special Merit with her jar of peaches.

They entered 5 entries of eggs and took blue, red & white ribbons.

We don't want to forget the chickens, Nate's White Hen took a blue.

Then the 6 Guinea Hens?, took blues and reds.

The big part of the fair, the showing of the pigs. Clipp their hair, Take them over on Thursday night, weigh them in and wash them. Its up early Friday morning to bath they and get them rread for the show.
Nate is on his way to be a champion showman.

Hunter has his hog under control.

Russell was on a stroll with his hog.

Tayler was the best showman in the senior division, but her pig did not corporate with her at all, he wanted to go back to the pen and wouldn't leave the corners.

The sale was a good one, even though the pigs didn't place very high this year, they still sold for a good price. Congratulations we are proud of you.
So the show ends, the plans for next year begins and a much desired rest from feeding, taking care of, fixing pens, broken water pipes, weigh in, etc, etc. etc. It is a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it.

ALL GROWN UP!!!
Once upon a time.....
beginning in December 1991,
three cousins were born within a short time of each other.
Pictured below, Shauna and Tristen, Becky and Kendall, Jenny and Summer.
We had come from Provo to Tucson to bless Kendall so we could have
family there for the event. I wonder if we imagined these kids would grow up and
go to college together??
18 years flew by and the children grew, and grew!!! NOW all three are attending
18 years flew by and the children grew, and grew!!! NOW all three are attendingcollege at E A C. All three came "home" (to my home
anyway), to visit and I couldn't resist taking a picture for a comparison.
They sat in proper birth order! We had so much fun together eating
and playing games...and talking, and laughing, and talking......
Life's fun!
